Chapter: Neuro

Subchapter: Head (Read entire chapter)

Diagnosis: Brainstem hemorrhage
Noncontrast head CT shows an about 3 cm area of hyperattenuation in the brainstem (arrow) compatible with a focal hemorrhage which is centered within the pons. There is poor visualization of the fourth ventricle which may be due to presence of ventricular hemorrhage versus mass effect secondary to the focal hemorrhage.
